An amateur psychologist by nature (and by undergrad degree), I have always found myself drawn to the problems of modern romance. Since the days of schoolyard crushes and “circle yes or no!” lunchroom notes, I have happily counseled my friends and family in affairs of the heart – giving advice on relationships, sex and love. I’ve ghostwritten countless text messages, emails and AIM conversations for my friends and have even talked my parents through a marital spat or two. And as a constant observer, I have watched the amazing young women around me as they try to make sense of this frustrating new dating scene, all the while trying to navigate my own perplexing romantic life.
I feel disillusioned by classic dating books and theories that simply supply us with outdated Rules or tell us about all the guys who just aren’t that into us. The conventional romantic wisdom no longer applies to our new sliver of a generation! And so Becky and I started this project to explore the quandaries and questions that modern women face in the search for love now.
This website, which we are developing into a book and film through interviews with young women and men across the country, is a forum for us all to share and learn. I say it’s time that we stop stressing and start having FUN with this endlessly fascinating and unpredictable part of our lives.
