Star Magazine is reporting that Al Gore cheated on his soon-to-be-ex-wife Tipper with Laurie David – the ex-wife of Seinfeld creator Larry David and the co-producer of Gore’s Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth. And while the pages of Star and its ilk might typically be filled with unreliable sources and sensationalist headlines, these crappy tabloids have recently had a pretty impressive track record of outing cheating public figures (remember the Pulitzer Prize nomination that The National Enquirer received for their coverage of John Edwards’s affair?). So I, and plenty of other news outlets, are inclined to believe this one.
I’m tired of ranting about lies, infidelity and the dangers of Tiger Text. We’re in the middle of a cheating epidemic and it’s pathetic. There’s not much more to be said. So, the only real comment I have on this story is…
WTF?!?!?!
Seriously, Al? I’m all for climate change, but can’t you campaign for the environment and hold your f’ing marriage together at the same time? Apparently not.
Another epic fail for the baby boomers. Another woman facing public embarrassment. And another reason that we should feel good about breaking away from the romantic traditions and standards of older generations.
Okay, I’m done. Moving on. Cue the return of romantic optimism!

So picture it…
NYC – 2010
I’m sitting here cruising the WTF site, like I usually do. Looking for new ways to pick up chicks. Reading about Jessica’s musings about love, life, relationships and sadly, The Bachelorette. Agreeing with everything Becky and Jess have to say, like I usually do. Then I hit this article…
First off, I would like to say (besides stabbing someone in the face) cheating on someone is just about the worst thing you can do to someone. If this is true, I’m all about crapping on Al Gore. BUT the reasoning, this is where Jess and I disagree…
This is not the reason we should feel good about “breaking away from the romantic traditions and standards of older generations”, don’t you see this cheating epidemic is CAUSED by us breaking away from the romantic traditions and standards of older generations?????
Look, guys are dumb, and this is coming from a guy. You need to set boundaries! I know, I know with Al this doesn’t apply because the boundaries are set with marriage. I am more talking about this new way of dating where you don’t want to label someone a “boyfriend”, you don’t be honest and just call the guy back the next day (instead of waiting for HIM to call), and where you mess around with multiple guys because you and the guy you REALLY like aren’t “exclusive”. I’m not saying people didn’t cheat back then, I’m saying it wasn’t so socially acceptable.
Dating in the 30s and 40s was an easier time where you knew where you stood and you tried to work it out if you encountered a problem. Now, it’s like a curse if you didn’t play the field well into your 30s. It’s sad.
This new way of dating is BREEDING infidelity, especially with this Sex and the City lifestyle. Just remember, you can idolize that old one (Samantha??) and that will be fun for a bit, but you are going to end up like her, old and alone.
Love ya,
SxAxGx
p.s. when is Becky doing Justin.TV again? I missed it!
I’m pushing for a follow-up with the latest news.
It seems like a lot of liberals are disappointed here. What is it about Al Gore that made us expect more?
